Using the power and passion of the motorsports industry RAACE was
created to raise awareness and to fund educational programs to fight
the epidemic of child sexual abuse.
The RAACE Foundation was established in 2004 by Ken Smith and is
a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising public awareness and
funding educational programs to fight the epidemic of child sexual
abuse. In 2004 Ken Smith attended a program sponsored through St.
Vincent's Center (Baltimore, Maryland area) known as Illuminations.
Ken's involvement with this program led him to the realization that
more needed to be done to draw attention to this alarming epidemic.
He believed that this problem needed high profile exposure to bring
it into the forefront of social consciousness. But in order to bring
the message to the public a forum had to be found that would attract
both children and adults. Motorsports ability to reach the masses
through spectators at the track and through television broadcasts
was a perfect venue for the foundation to target.
Statistics about child sexual abuse are startling and can be disturbing.
Yet it is the very prevalence of abuse that makes it so important
to address this issue with our children.

the age of 18.

in America today.
- 30-40% of victims are abused by a family member.
- More than 20% of children are sexually abused before the age
of 8.

to experience health problems.

for issues such as substance abuse, suicidal thoughts and attempted
suicide.

victimize others.
