Chad Boat Eager for Holiday Fireworks in Daytona
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 2, 2014) - The last time he was on a superspeedway, Chad Boat steered his No. 84 Chevrolet towards the front of the field in Talladega before a he was caught up in a late race accident ending his day. So it is easy to understand why the NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie is eager to get to Daytona International Speedway this week for the running of the Subway Firecracker 250 on Friday night.
"Myself and everyone else on this Billy Boat Motorsports team are very excited about getting to Daytona this week," said Chad Boat. "We had a tremendous run going in Talladega a few months back and were poised for our best finish of the year. Unfortunately in typical superspeedway fashion we got caught in something not of our making and it ended our day just short of that desired finish. The guys on this team have worked hard to repair that car and we look to be able to put our Chevrolet Camaro towards the front of the field again on Friday night."
Boat will be making his second career start at the Daytona International Speedway having finished 24th in the season opening event at the 2.5-mile track. This week will also be his sixth start of the season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
"This has been an up and down first half of the season for this team," added Billy Boat. "But that is all part of building a new team from the ground up and the growing pains associated with that. Chad has quickly taken to racing in the draft and he has shown what he can do with that type of racing. As always our goal this week is to complete all of the laps and get the best finish possible and continue building this program here at Billy Boat Motorsports for the future."
Chad will join many other NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers for an Autograph Session in the Sprint FANZONE from 5:00 - 5:45 pm on Friday before climbing behind the wheel of his No. 84 Chevrolet for the 250-mile event.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014 and will be broadcast live at 7:00 p.m. EST on ESPN2 and radio stations affiliated with MRN and Sirius Channel 90.
