JJ Yeley Captures 16th Place Finish in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV. (March 9, 2015) - JJ Yeley and his JGL Racing team showed persistence and hard work for the second week in a row as they finished 16th in the running of the 19th Annual Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The finish was the second hard earned top-20 finish in the last two weeks for Yeley and his No. 28 Texas 28 Spirits Stage Toyota.
"I really appreciate all the hard work by Steve Plattenberger (crew chief) and the guys on this JGL Racing team," stated Yeley. "We were a little tight in the center early in the race and we made some great changes over the course of our pit stops. We were really good right there in that last run of the race - the car just had a really good feel to it. Once again we had solid pit stops and were able to maintain our track position. We were better there at the end of the race than our finish indicates but for the second week in a row we came home with a solid run for this JGL Racing team."
Yeley would start the 200-lap event from the 27th position and would quickly move his way through the field. He would crack the top-20 only 20 laps into the event and would remain there the majority of the 300-mile race. With some good calls in the pits and a few minor adjustments throughout the race, JJ and his No. 28 Toyota stayed strong to come home safely with another solid finish.
The 16th place finish moved Yeley up three spots in the NASCAR XFINITY Series driver's points standings where he currently sits in the 13th position - 11 points out of the top-10.
"Once again this No. 28 team did a great job and we have another solid finish to show for it," stated team owner James Whitener. "These last two weeks have been great team builders for us as we continue to grow the JGL Racing organization. We are all excited about what the 2015 season has in store for us and look forward to the next two races on the West Coast swing."
Yeley and the JGL Racing team will stay out West in the desert as the NASCAR XFINITY Series visits Phoenix International Raceway. The running of the Axalta 200 will be Saturday March 14, 2015 at the track located in Avondale, Arizona. The race can be seen LIVE on FOX at 4:00 p.m. ET and heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
