JJ Yeley Comes Home with 21st Place Finish at Charlotte
CONCORD, NC (May 25, 2015) - JJ Yeley is like every other racer when it comes to racing in front of the home crowd at Charlotte Motor Speedway - he looks forward to one of his best runs of the season. Yeley was hoping for a little more as he steered his No. 28 Texas 28 Spirits Stage Toyota to a hard fought 21st-place finish in the running of the Hisense 300 at the 1.5-mile track in Concord, North Carolina.
"I was really hoping for something a little better this weekend but we fought hard to come home safely with a decent finish," said Yeley. "We battled a loose condition on our No. 28 Toyota early in the race which got us a little behind. We got the car better there after a few adjustments but we had lost too much ground earlier in the race."
The No. 28 team would start the 300 mile event from the 25th position after qualifying a few hours before the drop of the green flag. Early in the race Yeley reported that his No. 28 Toyota was a little free all the way through the corners. The first pit stop of the day allowed the JGL Racing to make some adjustments which resulted in better handling the remainder of the day. Yeley would work his way inside the top-20 in the late stages of the race but when the checkered flag flew he came home safely in the 21st spot.
"We fought hard for everything we got out there today," added Yeley. "We definitely got the car better after that first pit stop. Again, we were looking for a better performance today but we safely brought our No. 28 Toyota home. We can now turn our attention to Dover and the big week we have ahead there."
The 21st-place finish dropped Yeley one spot to 14th in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 62 points out of the Top-10.
Up next for JJ and his JGL Racing team is a visit to Dover International Speedway. The running of the Buckle Up 200 will be Saturday May 30th and can be seen LIVE on FOX at 2:00 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
