Timmy Hill Scores 11th-Place Finish for JGL Racing at Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (July 5, 2015) - Timmy Hill and the JGL Racing team entered Daytona with each having solid track records in NASCAR XFINITY Series competition at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. This trend continued on Saturday night as Hill piloted his No. 26 JGL Racing Toyota to a hard fought 11th-place finish in the running of the Subway Firecracker 250 at the Daytona International Speedway.
"While that was a great finish out there tonight it probably should have been even better," said Hill. "We got caught down a lap during that cycle of green flag stops halfway through the race but we should have never had that happen. We should have been racing there for the win with that Green/White/Checker finish. We had a strong No. 26 Toyota and the guys on this JGL Racing team did a great job all weekend."
Hill would start the 250-mile event from the 18th position as a result of the qualifying session earlier in the day. In typical superspeedway fashion, Timmy would fluctuate throughout the field while maneuvering through the draft. Unfortunately a long green flag run and pit stop under green halfway through the race would result in Hill and the No. 26 team going down a lap.
While working hard to get his lap back, Hill would use the guidance of his spotter to avoid some late race accidents. This would put the 2011 NASCAR XFINITY Series Rookie of the Year in the good position to make a strong run in the closing laps and a near miss top-10 finish.
"I would really like to thank everyone at JGL Racing for this opportunity," added Hill. "They provided me with a strong car and the guys on this team worked hard and we were able to come home with a strong finish. This is a growing NASCAR XFINITY Series team with great leadership and hopefully we get the chance to do this together again."
The No. 26 JGL Racing team next heads to Kentucky Speedway for a Friday night race under the lights. The running of the Kentucky 300 will be Friday July 10th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
