Tomy Drissi Heads to The Glen Driving No. 26
"Straight Out of Compton - The Movie" Toyota
MOORESVILLE, NC (August 5, 2015) - JGL Racing announced today that road racing champion, Tomy Drissi, will pilot the teams No. 26 JGL Racing Toyota Camry in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series running of the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International.
Following a great run together at The Glen in 2014, Tomy will rejoin JGL Racing with the No. 26 Toyota Camry carrying the livery for Universal Picture's new release, Straight Outta Compton, the story of iconic recording group, NWA.
"I'm really looking forward to climbing back into the JGL Racing Toyota," said Tomy. "It's a great opportunity on so many levels. First, I had a really good run with the JGL guys last year and we finished 20th. Second, I love driving at the Glen. It's just a great place to be racing. And lastly, I'm excited to bring Universal Pictures to NASCAR and promote the movie, Straight Outta Compton."
Drissi will be making his seventh career NASCAR XFINITY start this weekend and it will be his third at The Glen. He also has a Sprint Cup Series start to his credit at the 2.45-mile road course layout. In addition to his NASCAR efforts, Drissi currently competes in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship which has included a second place finish in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
"We are excited to have Tomy back with the JGL Racing organization for the upcoming road course events," stated James Whitener, owner of JGL Racing. "Tomy did a fantastic job for us last year and our race team has grown a lot since then. I think together we can have some really solid runs coming up beginning with Watkins Glen."
"This is racing at its best," added Tomy. "The NASCAR guys are a great community and they really treat you like family. And the racing is as good as it gets. They race hard and they race you clean - you can't ask for a better opportunity. The cars are so much fun to drive. I like the fact that while JGL might be a small team, they have proven they can beat some of the bigger teams as they continue to get better every week. Last year I was thrilled to deliver them a top-20 finish and I think we've got more in store for this year."
The running of the Zippo 200 will be Saturday August 8th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 3:00 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
