Yeley Finishes 19th at Charlotte
CONCORD, NC. (October 11, 2015) - While racing in front of family and friends on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, J.J. Yeley and his JGL Racing team produced their 21st top-20 finish of the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season. Yeley would pilot his No. 28 Toyota to a 19th-place finish in the 34th Annual Drive for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina at the track located in Concord, North Carolina.
"That wasn't really the kind of race we had hoped for," said Yeley. "We basically came with a new car and tried some new aero elements and it seems like we just had too much drag in our car. I tried all sorts of things during the race such as running different lines but nothing seemed to work. But even with the issues we had with the car I think we were better than our finish shows."
Yeley would start the 200-lap event from the 21st position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day. When the green flag flew Yeley would work his way inside the top-20 while reporting that his No. 28 Toyota was a little free in the center of the corners. The JGL Racing pit crew would make some adjustments during its first pit stop at Lap 50 in an effort to improve their No. 28 Toyota.
The changes on the first pit stop and subsequent stops throughout the 300-mile race would only marginally improve the handling of the car with the bigger issue seeming to be too much drag. The veteran NASCAR racer would continue his efforts behind the wheel to improve his position on the track. As the checkered flag flew, Yeley would bring his No. 28 Toyota across the line with the top-20 finish.
"I am not sure what else I could have done out there tonight," added Yeley. "As we continue to grow as a team it is necessary to get aggressive with some packages and tonight that seemed to hurt us. But this is all part of the process and the guys on this JGL Racing will continue to work hard and provide me with strong cars each time we unload at the track."
With the 19th-place finish Yeley remained 12th in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - just four points out of 11th and 89 points out of the Top-10.
Yeley and his JGL Racing team will next set their sights onto Kansas Speedway this coming weekend. The running of the Kansas Lottery 300 will be Saturday October 17th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 4:00 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
