TJ Bell Survives for 26th Place Finish in Phoenix
AVONDALE, AZ (March 13, 2016) - TJ Bell returned to action for the first time this season as he re-joined the JGL Racing organization for the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Phoenix International Raceway. The Nevada native would deal with some handling issues but survive the 200-mile event to safely bring home his No. 24 Toyota to a 26th-place finish in the running of the Axalta 200 at the Avondale, Arizona one-mile track.
"It was great to be back in the car for the first time this year and I look forward to future chances," said Bell. "We didn't have the run that we wanted but I am very proud of the JGL Racing team for not giving up and battling all the way to the checkered flag. Our No. 24 Toyota was loose early in the race but then we dealt with some sort of front suspension issue for the second half of the event. We won't know for sure what the issue was until we get the car back to the shop and take a good look at it."
TJ would start the running of the Axalta 200 from the 27th position as a result of his qualifying efforts earlier in the day. The early stages of the race saw Bell move forward in the field and knock on the door of the top-20 before the loose condition hampered his progress. In a race featuring very few cautions, the JGL Racing crew had minimal opportunities to tune on the No. 24 Toyota. The second half of the 200-lap event would feature no cautions at all and the surfacing of the front suspension issue. In the end, TJ would focus on bringing home his No. 24 Toyota safely which he successfully did in the 26th position.
"I appreciate the opportunity that JGL Racing gave me this weekend," added TJ. "I raced with the team many times last year and it feels like home to me. I also want to thank Apex Contracting and Restoration for coming on board and sponsoring us this weekend."
Corey Lajoie will return to the seat of the No. 24 Toyota next week at Auto Club Speedway as he debuts the new youtheory sponsorship with the JGL Racing team.
