Dakoda Armstrong Finishes 22nd in Fontana
FONTANA, CA (March 21, 2016) - Dakoda Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will be more than happy that the three week West Coast swing is over. For the third week in a row the New Castle, Indiana native couldn't catch a much needed break and battled with the handling of his No. 28 Winfield Toyota. When the checkered flag flew on the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Auto Club Speedway, Dakoda would post a 22nd-place finish in the running of the TREATMYCLOT.com 300.
"Well for sure this has been a long and rough three week stretch for us," said Armstrong. "Our Winfield Toyota just didn't seem like the same car that we posted a top-10 speed with in practice the day before. It was just a little too free from the beginning and lacked that overall grip that I needed to really get after it. We tried to use some strategy to gain track position but as it has been all season for us so far we just didn't catch that timely caution that we needed."
Dakoda would start the 150-lap event from the 21st position as a result of his qualifying efforts earlier in the day. The driver of the No. 28 Winfield Toyota would find out early in the race that his car just wasn't the same. His JGL Racing crew would take every opportunity to come down pit road in an attempt to improve the handling for Armstrong. In the end, the effort proved fruitless and Dakoda would bring his No. 28 Winfield Toyota home with a disappointing 22nd-place finish.
"Well the West Coast swing is over and we have a two week break to recover and prepare for Texas," added Dakoda. "I am confident in myself and this team and together we will rebound and come out firing next time we hit the track."
The 22nd-place finish would keep Armstrong to the 13th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 22 points out of the top ten.
Armstrong and his JGL Racing team have a two week break before heading to Texas Motor Speedway for the running of the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300. The sixth race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday April 8th and can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports1 at 8:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
