Corey LaJoie Comes Home 18th in California
FONTANA, CA (March 21, 2016) - While debuting a new sponsor on their No. 24 Toyota, Corey LaJoie and JGL Racing entered the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Auto Club Speedway with much enthusiasm. That enthusiasm would still persist after the 300-mile event as LaJoie would steer his No. 24 youtheory Toyota to an 18th-place finish in the running of the TREATMYCLOT.com 300.
"That was a lot of fun out there today," said LaJoie. "This was my first time racing at the track and I want to thank this JGL Racing team for sticking with me throughout the weekend. We started in the hole with our qualifying effort but I got better with each lap around the track and in that second half of the race I felt like we were much better than where we were running."
LaJoie would start the 150-lap event from the 32nd position as a result of his qualifying efforts earlier in the day. The JGL Racing Young Guns driver would quickly move through the field and crack the top-20 by lap 25. While LaJoie learned more and more with each lap, his JGL Racing crew utilized key pit stops for some necessary adjustments on the No. 24 youtheory Toyota. In what proved to be a wild finish to the race, Corey would cross the finish line as his Toyota ran out of fuel for perfect strategy and his second top-20 finish of the season.
"After qualifying I thought we were in for a long day," added Corey. "But when we got going in the race our No. 24 youtheory Toyota really was pretty good. This was a great learning experience for me and will be very valuable as I progress throughout the season. I want to thank youtheory for the support and I can't get back behind the wheel of the No. 24 youtheory Toyota soon enough."
After a hectic three week West Coast swing, the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take two weeks off before returning to action on April 8th for the running of the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
