Race Strategy Propels J.J. Yeley to 18th Place Finish at Dover

DOVER, DE (June 1, 2015) - J.J. Yeley and his JGL Racing team used great race strategy to record their sixth top-20 finish of the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season.  While conserving fuel in his No. 28 Big Barrel Country Music Festival Toyota for the closing laps, Yeley took the checkered flag in the 18th spot in the running of the Buckle Up 200 at Dover International Speedway.

"We struggled a little today with our handling but Steve Plattenberger (crew chief) made a great race strategy call there at the end which helped us salvage a decent finish," said Yeley.  "The first part of the race we were just too loose. We got it better in the middle part of the race but the last adjustment we made just made us really tight in the center which killed me speed wise."

The No. 28 team would start the 200 mile event from the 23rd position after qualifying earlier in the day.  Early in the race Yeley reported that his No. 28 Big Barrel Toyota was a little free - especially on entry into the corner.  Some key adjustments by the JGL Racing crew would improve the handling however Yeley would develop a tight in the center condition on the long green flag run to end the race which hampered his progress.  With nothing to lose, crew chief Steve Plattenberger made the decision to try to stretch the fuel mileage despite the teams calculations showing them a few laps short.  With J.J. doing his best to conserve fuel the call worked out perfectly and the No. 28 Big Barrel Toyota came home in the 18th position.

"We actually had some good luck on our side out there today," added Yeley.  "Steve made a great call and I was able to save us a little fuel there at the end and our race strategy worked out.  We had a few times this season where our strategy back fired on us so it is nice to have things turn out on the good side.   It was great having Big Barrel on our No. 28 Toyota this weekend and I think we put on a pretty good show for them."

With the 18th-place finish Yeley remains 14th in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 72 points out of the Top-10.

The JGL Racing team will enjoy a week off before returning to action at Michigan International Speedway.  The running of the Great Clips 250 will be Saturday June 13th and can be seen LIVE on FoxSports1 at 2:00 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
