Late Race Incident Relegates Yeley to 25th Place Finish in Michigan

BROOKLYN, MI (June 14, 2015) -  J.J. Yeley and his JGL Racing team were on course for another NASCAR XFINITY Series top-20 finish before disaster struck with only five laps remaining.  The end result was a disappointing 25th place finish for Yeley and his No. 28 Toyota in the running of the Great Clips 250 at Michigan International Speedway.

"I just hate this for my JGL Racing team," said Yeley.  "We fought hard all day and were going to secure another top-20 finish.  We were just riding out the end of the race and then we had the air taken off our No. 28 Toyota and I got into the fence a little.  We got enough right side damage that we cut down a tire and had to come down pit road under green there in the closing laps."

The No. 28 team would start the 250 mile event from the 24th position after qualifying earlier in the day.  Once again Yeley struggled with a loose condition in the center of the corner as the right rear just didn't appear to be in the track.  However, the veteran NASCAR driver was able to quickly climb inside the top-20 and remain there for the majority of the 125 lap event until the closing laps.  After getting caught down a lap, on multiple occasions Yeley and his JGL Racing team just missed getting back on the lead lap.  While in traffic in the closing laps, J.J. would have the air taken off his No. 28 Toyota which sent him into the outside wall resulting in a right side tire failure.  He would need to give up his top-20 position for a trip down pit road which relegated to him to a 25th-place finish as the checkered flag flew.

"We really had a decent No. 28 Toyota today but got bitten by some bad luck once again," added Yeley.  "We had a great first round of qualifying and I knew we had a good car for the race.  We got down that lap on green flag stops and just missed a few times on getting the Lucky Dog.  We were really strong on old tires and definitely deserved a better finish than we got today."

With the 25th-place finish Yeley remains 14th in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 77 points out of the Top-10.

Yeley and his JGL Racing team will set their sights on Chicagoland Speedway this coming weekend.  The running of the Owens Corning AttiCat 300 will be Saturday June 20th and can be seen LIVE on FoxSports1 at 9:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
