Yeley Fights for 19th Place Finish at Chicagoland

JOLIET, IL. (September 20, 2015) - With high hopes after a strong practice session, JJ Yeley and his JGL Racing team had their hands full while fighting hard to come home with a top-20 finish in Chicago on Saturday.  Despite fighting handling issues on his No. 28 Toyota, Yeley would finish in the 19th position in the running of the Furious 7 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

"For the second week in a row we struggled during the race," said Yeley.  "Our No. 28 Toyota was strong during the practice session on Friday but we just couldn't get a hold of the handling during qualifying and the race on Saturday.  It was very frustrating for all of us on this team.  We have changed some key elements of our program and we just need to get it all figured out - and I know we will."

After posting the second fastest lap in the only practice session on Friday, Yeley and his No. 28 Toyota would start the 300-mile event on Saturday from the 22nd position.  Early in the race Yeley would tell Steven Lane (crew chief) that his No. 28 Toyota was loose through the center and off the corner which was hurting his momentum.  The JGLRacing team would use an early caution to come down pit road for some adjustments to fix the loose condition.  With the balance much better Yeley would move up through the field and inside the top-15 at the halfway mark of the 200 lap event.

However, as the second half of the race progressed and the sun went down - Yeley once again began to struggle with the handling of his No. 28 Toyota.  While the JGLRacing crew had a few more attempts at adjustments nothing seemed to provide much improvement.  The last segment of the race would find Yeley holding on for his 19th top-20 finish of the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season.

"While we have struggled here the last two races, I am confident in what the guys on this JGL Racing team will find out," added Yeley.

"With some key changes in our program such as the new engine package, it has presented us with something different to work with.  We will figure it out and look forward to getting back on track next week in Kentucky."

With the 19th-place finish Yeley fell one spot to 13th in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 94 points out of the Top-10.

Yeley and his JGL Racing team will next set their sights onto Kentucky Speedway this coming weekend.  The running of the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 will be Saturday September 26th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 8:00 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
